This book I purchased a couple of years a go, which I am going always delving into. This is a excellent and readable reference book on a practical ways to make a living in the of art. Caroll Michels is a life long art consultant who has written this book to share her experiences and expertise with the fine art community. It is well written and with useful references, Michels' book is an excellent addition to any artist's bookshelf.

Daniel Grant explains the basics of marketing, from finding just the right venue for the type of work you do, to how to write the most concise and descriptive Artist Statement. As an artist always on the lookout for places to display and sell, Chapter 4, "Exhibiting in Non-Art Places" was an eye-opener, and also the ideas presented in Chapter 7, "Specialized Markets." Part 2, "Starting an Art Business," has good advice for the artist just starting out and, but also is excellent for the seasoned professional.
The author has added listings at the end of a lot of the chapters, as some of them are useful additions to an artist's mailing list.
